Hutchison Lillian Mae. (Nee Vandrick)
Born on 21 March 1923, Lillian slipped peacefully away on 19 August with family at her side. She was pre-deceased by eight siblings and her second son, Kenneth (Judy). Left to mourn are her loving husband of 72 years, Al, sons Douglas (Frances), Graham (Shirley), Bill (Frankie) and Dan (Jenny) and daughter-in-law Judy plus 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. As the last member of her generation to pass, we were grateful she was able to attend the recent Vandrick Family Reunion where she visited many of her nieces and nephews. Lillian had a very special place in her heart for the little ones and was known as "Grandma Honey" by many Comox children she baby-sat over the years. Lillian met her husband-to- be in the rumble seat of an Essex Super Six in Vancouver and from there followed him in his military postings to England, Scotland and Singapore. On returning to Canada, she raised her family in Trenton, Calgary, Penhold, London, Comox and Summerside before settling here in the Valley. In recent years she has been a resident of the Views at St. Joseph's where she has received wonderful loving care from all the ECU Staff. By her own request, there will be no service. Her ashes are to be scattered at Cultus Lake near her Mother's final residence and a place she was very fond of.
