It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Leo Martin Schmidt, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Born in Glentworth, Saskatchewan, Leo's family moved to BC when he was 6 years old. As an adult, he worked at the Cannery in Steveston, drove cement truck for Ocean Cement for 30 years and 7 years for Valley Rite Mix, eventually moving to and retiring in Chilliwack.
Over the years Leo enjoyed many interests, there were so many good times and we have so many good memories. Leo was a character larger than life.
Leo was the last surviving member of his family and is predeceased by his grandson Mark. He is survived by his wife Anne of 68 years, children Linda (Bob), Dale, Ron (Darlene), Karen (Max), Wayne and Kathy, 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
The family is grateful for the compassion and care Leo received at Cascades Hospice in Chilliwack where he peacefully passed away.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 20th, 10:00 am at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660 - 72nd Avenue, Surrey, BC.
