Leo Ewald Banman

December 18, 2018

April 17, 1931 - December 18, 2018
Leo was born on April 17, 1931 in Beechy, Saskatchewan to Ben and Maria Banman. He served in the RCAF as a radar technician on the arctic DEW line. After military service he resided in Chilliwack where he operated multiple business ventures until his retirement. Remembered best as an avid golfer who had a joke for every occasion. He had a particular fondness for sports cars, homebuilt planes, beautiful women, and scotch.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Marjorie Crawford, who resided in Scotland. In 1961, he married Carol Gleig. They raised two sons, Bruce and Scott. Leo was preceded in death by his sisters Margaret Latham, Netty Lee, Elsie Penner, and brother Henry Banman. He is survived by his sons, his sister Irene Gummeson, his second wife Ruth Whitney and two step-sons, Curtis and Jason Whitney, and many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins and friends.

Leo faced the impediments of a bad stroke in 2014 with immense grace, helped in large part by the daily visits by his sweetie, Ruth. His humour and charisma helped form strong bonds with many of the staff at Cascade Manor in Chilliwack and the family thanks them for their incredible care over the last 4 years. He passed peacefully, in his sleep, on December 18, 2018.

A celebration of Leo's life will be announced at a later date.

Heaven better have a decent greenskeeper...or they'll hear about it!
