(Nov 5, 1931 - Jan. 25, 2013)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom Lena, aged 81 after a spirited and courageous nine-month-long battle with cancer. All of her immediate family members were at her beside at the Abbotsford hospital when she passed away peacefully.

Lena is survived by her husband Leonard; daughters: Doris (Jim) Montgomery and Cathy Hall; sons, Joe (Trudy) Hall and Ray (Cathy) Hall; grandsons: Tyler Hall, Cody Hall, Nolan Montgomery, and Kyle Hall; granddaughters: Kelsey Hall and Caitlyn Montgomery. She will be remembered by sister, Lillian (Vern) Ritter; and brothers: Wally Bohn and Leonard (Colleen) Bohn. Pre-deceased by her parents Carl and Olga Bohn, sister Leah Motkaluk and brother Art Bohn

Mom was born in Manola, Alberta in 1931 and traveled to BC one summer when she was 17 years old to pick berries and live with her grandparents Gustav and Matilda Stoik. She chose not to return to Alberta and instead stayed with her grandparents and became a resident of Chilliwack for the past 64 years working at various jobs including the former Coqualeetza Hospital.

Lena married Leonard Hall on February 12, 1955. Aside from raising their four children Lena operated a small confectionary store for several years and was a regular vender at local flea markets selling baked goods, blackberries, canned fruit and home made crafts such as doilies and other needlework items. She enjoyed socializing with the local Tzeachten Elders group, playing cards and attending sports events to watch her children and grandchildren compete.

The family would like to thank Henderson’s Funeral Home for their assistance during this difficult time. As well we send a special thanks to Mom’s good friend Sharon Phare who was incredibly helpful during her battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held on 10:00 am Friday, February 1, 2013 at Henderson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium in Chilliwack. Internment will follow at Carmen United Church Cemetery. An afternoon tea at the Tzeachten Hall will follow the internment.
