January 29, 2019
Len Visscher of Chilliwack, BC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in Cardiac ICU at Royal Columbian Hospital after complications following open heart surgery. He was 80 years old.

Len was born in Waardenburg, The Netherlands. He immigrated to Chilliwack with his family in 1954. He lived the rest of his life in Chilliwack, BC.

Len is survived by his wife Susan of 54 years, his son Peter (Elizabeth) and daughter Cathy (Mike) Roffel. His grandchildren Steve (Lida), Jeff (Beyond), David (Melissa), Jason, and Amy. His great grandchildren Tom, Carson, Leo and Samantha. And survived by siblings Joe (Celia), Ted (Lucille), Corrie, Jane (Bob), Nella (Frank).

He was predeceased by his brother Peter and Brother-in-law Jake Dekker.

Len was a business man who spent his life together with his brothers building a successful business enterprise (Visscher Lumber / Westform). Len retired when he was 54 years old and enjoyed a number of cars, RV's and motorhomes.

Len loved horsepower, loud exhaust and rolling coal long before that was "a thing". He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and show them how not to drive cars!! His great grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he loved having them over.

He still made his daily rounds to the company and always took time to chat with everyone. He was full of stories even if they were at his own expense. He was a humble man who didn't like dressing up.

He was the first truck driver for Visscher Lumber / Westform and logged millions of miles, making many friends along the way.

He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.

Many thanks to the Doctors and Nurses in the RCH Cardiac ICU for their amazing compassionate care of Len.

Len's Funeral service is slated for 10 am on Saturday, Feb 9th at the Bethel Netherlands Reformed Church, 8920 Broadway St, Chilliwack, BC.
