Lawrence Theodore CATTON

August 10, 2009

Master Warrant Officer, Lawrence Theodore

(retired) (Larry)

Larry Catton passed away on 10 August, 2009 in Chilliwack B.C., at 93 years of age.

He is survived by his son Murray and daughters Wendy (Rao) and Margo (Van Beest).

Larry was pre-deceased by his wife Hilda F. (nee Webber) in June 1990, after 50 years of marriage and pre-deceased by his siblings, George, James, Jean, and Emily with his sister Doreen still living in Victory.

Born in Regina Saskatchewan 28 April 1916, Larry joined the Canadian Army in 1939 and spent a full career as a clerk in the Service Corps, enjoying time at various positions across Canada and Germany, including private secretary to Queen Elizabeth on an occasion.

Retiring from his military career, Larry joined the Royal Bank of Canada in Vancouver and retired a second time to the Okanagan (Oliver area) as a gentleman hobby orchardist. With his wife Hilda in poor health, they moved closer to health services and family in Chilliwack, B.C.

Larry was an avid reader, good chess player, winning Casino poker player, family man and above all an honourable gentleman. Notably, in his last year Larry was still capable of completing his own Income Tax Return and discussing current affairs in depth, interspersed between his mischievous moments with the ladies.

“So he passed over and all the trumpets sounded for him on the other side.”

May he rest in peace.
