Jul 31, 1947 - Dec 7, 2017
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our father/grandfather/brother/ and friend on Dec 7, 2017 at the age of 70.  Kevin was born in St. John, New Brunswick July 31, 1947, and passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

He served 23 years in the Canadian Forces and in this time he was in the Armour Corp, Infantry and Transportation.  It was during this time that he met his soulmate, Elizabeth "Alice" Halligan while serving overseas.  They were married in Amsterdam in 1971 and shortly afterwards they moved to Canada.

He was predeceased by Alice in 2013, and his best four-legged friend Charlie (2017).

Kevin is survived by Chantal (Frank) Klaassen, Charmain (Chris) Halligan, and Dennis (Jennifer) Halligan.

Kevin had six incredible grandchildren that he was extremely proud of: Ashton (Indra), Kyle (Alysha), Chelsea, Vanessa, Nicholas and Meadow. Kevin leaves behind his sister Colleen and his niece Marie in Ontario, and his uncle Eddie & Aunt Eve in California.

Kevin fought a very short but courageous battle with lung cancer.  Being in the military, the family moved every couple years and called many places in Canada home (Newfoundland, Ontario, BC).  In 1987, the family moved to the Chilliwack area and have called it home ever since.

Kevin was a man who would give you the shirt off his back.  He was generous, hardworking, stubborn, funny, and grumpy on the outside but secretly a softy on the inside.  He had a love for animals, the Ottawa Senators, drinking red wine while camping and spending time with his family and friends.

In 1990, Kevin started a second career at the District of Chilliwack working at the RCMP detachment as a Casual Prisoner Guard, then Guard Supervisor and eventually up to Fleet Coordinator in 2004 where he continued this role up until recently. He had a good rapport with RCMP members and staff and a wonderful relationship with external work partners. Kevin was exceptionally proud to be associated with and work for the RCMP and the City of Chilliwack and was awarded the "Recognizing Excellence" award in May 2017.

As a family, we are very happy that Dad has reunited with the love of his life, Mom.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Chilliwack General Hospital, and the outstanding staff at the Cascade Hospice.  Thank you also to Kevin's friends who supported him and our family during our difficult times.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Chilliwack Baptist Church, 46336 First Ave, Chilliwack, BC.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, to please donate to the Cascade Hospice Residence.
