Katherine Louise Thiessen (nee Friesen)

Katherine Louise Thiessen (nee Friesen) passed away into the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on October 10, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born the 3rd oldest of 7 children in Winnipeg, Manitoba November 29, 1926 and the family lived in Grunthall, MB as new immigrants from the USSR. The family moved west to Yarrow, BC in 1944, and then to Chilliwack in 1947. Katherine married Rudy Thiessen 1951 and together they raised 3 daughters and 1 son.

Katherine's greatest joys in life were spending time with her 17 grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting & crocheting, road trips with the RV, gardening, quilting, baking & canning, and generally working hard.

Katherine is predeceased by her husband, Rudy Thiessen September 9, 2015, brothers & Sister-in-laws - John (Anna), Peter (Anne), Nick, and Jack (Marilyn). Her sister Mary (Friesen) Olson, and brother-in-law Ronald Williams.

She leaves behind:

-Her sister Magda (Friesen) Williams, sister-In-law Susan (Peters) Friesen, and brother-in-law Frank Olson.

-Her children: Shirley (Don) Wiebe, Gerald (Sandy) Thiessen, Carolyn (Dan) Esau and Joyce (Pete) Peters. 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, October 24 - 1:00 in the Nickel Hall at Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Road, Abbotsford.

We wish to thank Abbotsford Home Health and Holmberg House Hospice for their loving care and attention to Mom's needs in her later years. They were like extended family to us and we so appreciated them for investing their time for Mom.
