Joyce Eleanor Muriel Swanson passed away suddenly on Saturday August 26, 2006. Joyce is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kathy Swanson, Linda (Lorne) Johnson, Grande Cache and son, Ken (Carol) Swanson, Edmonton, six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, brother Rod Matthews and his wife Virginia, Kingston ON and nephews Larry, Douglas, Dick, Rod and niece Mary Jane, nephews David (Joan) Spender, Winnipeg and Gerry (Maureen) Spender, Vancouver. She will sadly missed by her friends including her Lady Lions and all her friends at the Vedder Legion #280 who called her Mom.
Joyce was born March 1, 1924 in Winnipeg, MB, second child to William and Sue Matthews. She married Bill in 1945 and moved to Prince Rupert where Kathy was born before moving back to Winnipeg. After raising 3 children(Linda and Ken born in Winnipeg), Bill retired from CN and they moved to Sardis in 1979. Bill passed away in 1993.
A memorial celebration of Joyce’s life will take place at the Vedder Legion #280 on Thursday August 31, 2006 at 1 pm. The family requests no flowers. donations would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society. reception to follow at the Legion.
