John Vincent Chapman (Candy Man).
John, born in Vancouver BC, passed away at the age of 66 in Chilliwack BC. Predeceased by his parents John & Peggy Chapman and his brother Patrick Chapman, he is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Judy, his children Candy (Trevor), Shawn (Lenore), Daniel (Amber), and his grandchildren Meghan, Tyler, Delaney and Lily.
Our world lost its sparkle with the passing of John. A larger than life character who loved his family and friends with the strength of a lion and a heart of gold. Family came first for John, and Judy was always by his side at work and play. A true showman at heart, the carnival ran deep in his blood. From childhood with his parents, to sharing that love with Judy, to passing the love and tradition down to his own children and grandchildren. Four generations strong.
John & Judy crisscrossed the province for years with their kids, grand kids, and all the kids' friends who often had their first jobs with J & J Concessions. When the cotton candy gang rolled into town all the kids (big and small) were excited to see Papa John.
John was"that guy"who everyone gravitated to no matter where he went. A hockey game was better with John banging on the glass. A soccer game was more exciting with John cheering loudly from the side lines. A poker game was more fun with John, even though beating him was not an easy task. Then
there were those camping trips which were way more fun for the grand kids with Papa John & Gramma Judy than with those boring parents.
Wherever John is on his journey, we are certain that he is telling all his famous jokes, even the dirty ones, and keeping everyone in stitches. His smile was infectious and you couldn't help but to love him.
We love you John, we miss you, and we wish you didn't have to go. But hey, you lived a life fuller than many could imagine and you were the star of your show.
