Dec. 12, 1925 ~ Aug. 24, 2008

Barry passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years at Heritage Village, Chilliwack, BC. Barry was born in London, England and emigrated to Canada after serving with the British Army in Europe and Gibraltar. Barry began his teaching career after the war and decided to bring his family to Canada to pursue opportunities in this country. Barry was an exceptional teacher who was able to bring to his classroom and excitement about his subject areas that encouraged his students to want to learn. Barry had a passion for airplanes and all things that had to do with flight. After retiring from his teaching career, he volunteered wit the BC Museum of Flight and served with the Abbotsford Air Show committee where he took pride in sharing his extensive knowledge of airplane technology and history to visitors.

Barry is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, daughter Lindsay (Ken) Wood of Salmon Arm, and grandchildren Jodi Wood of Victoria and Christopher (Jamie) Wood of San Diego, CA. The family would like to thank Dr. Bright, his family physician, for the excellent and compassionate care, also the staff at Heritage Village, and the friends that have continued to share their time and love with Barry over the past number of years.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Cooke’s Presbyterian Church, 45825 Wellington Ave., Chilliwack, B.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the BC Alzheimer’s Society in Barry’s name.
