Joan James our beloved mother and "Nanny" passed away peacefully on January 25, 2020 at Cascade hospice surrounded by family.
She is predeceased by her Mother Margaret, Father Arthur, Brother Brian and loving dogs Amy and Minky. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years Derek, her brother Graham (Mavis), her sister in law Rita, her nieces and nephews from England Angie, Debbie, Marguerite, Susan, and Johnny. Her 4 children Roger (Karen), Paul, Jacky (Francois), Pauline (Blair). Her 8 grandchildren Lisa, Andrew, Tanya, Danielle (Kevin), Christian, Cassy (Corey), Samantha, Tassann and her 3 great grandchildren Riley, Karsynn, and Chase.
She was born on September 8, 1932 in Manor Park, London England where she lived through the 2nd world war. She immigrated to Canada on the Queen Mary in 1957 with her two young sons at the time to meet up with her husband. They lived in various places around the world such as Germany, Malta and Sardinia. As her husband would say "she followed me half way around the world" They moved to Comox for 6 years with all 4 children before being transferred to Chilliwack where they would reside.
She was best known for her love of knitting, her trips to Vegas and London with her Daughters and grand daughter lisa. She loved day trips to the casino, playing bingo at the Foresters Hall, and writing letters to her family in England and friends she met on her travels. She also enjoyed gardening and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Throughout her life she donated to various charities. In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice in her name.
