Joan passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Predeceased by husband Edward and son Raymond, sister to Marjorie (Derek), Mother to Jeff (Katherine) and Gary (Theresa), and beloved Nana to Emily and Sarah.
Born and raised in wartime London, she married Ed in 1954 and 2 years later they moved to Canada, recruited by the RCAF and excited by the promise of indoor plumbing.
For the next 25 years Joan would devote her life to raising their 3 boys and managing a household constantly on the move. In 1981 Ed and Joan retired to Chilliwack, where she made a large group of great friends, sharing volunteer work, laughs, lunches, teas, and other social events. She was also an accomplished seamstress; she could mend or make anything from fabric.
Several years ago Joan and Ed moved to Victoria providing their immediate family the gift of more shared time.
Many thanks to the staff at Veterans Memorial Lodge for their superb care they provided this past year. Joan/Mom/Nana was a very special lady who always tackled life with a smile and a laugh. Her strength, spirit and personality will be dearly missed by many.
