Jean Alberta Williams (nee Pritchard) passed away on January 10, 2013 in Chilliwack, BC. She was born in Edmonton on July 1, 1924.
Jean is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Don, and by her children Gwynneth (David) O’Brien, Anne Williams (Kirk), Don (Wendy) Williams, Hugh (Leslie) Williams, grandchildren Joseph, Claire, Logan, Mac, Audrey and Jordan, her sister Marion Barnhouse, and her brother Jim Pritchard.
One of eleven children, Jean grew up in Edmonton and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta. Jean and Don lived in Ghana, Trinidad, Botswana and Kenya for several years while Don worked for the Canadian International Development Agency and for CUSO. Jean was a loving and unselfish wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her retirement on Saltspring Island and Comox. Jean received very good care at Cascade Lodge during the last two years of her life.
A graveside ceremony was held on January 15, 2013. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
