Jean Margaret Brown (nee Rowse) passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in Chilliwack, BC at the age of 79 years. She was born March 25, 1930 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Jean is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 56 years, Jerry, her son Dan (Susan) and her daughter Deleine (Graham) Perrie. She leaves behind her 6 wonderful grandchildren Carissa, Tyler, Shantelle, Justin, Adam & Curtis. She is also survived by her 3 older sisters Frances, Eileen (Gordon), & Doreen and many nieces, nephews & friends. She was predeceased by her parent’s and her infant daughter, Geraldine.

Jean grew up in Cranbrook, BC and graduated at the top of her class. She married Jerry in 1953 and moved to Chilliwack in 1954 where they decided to settle. They rented a tiny house in Chilliwack until they found the house of their dreams. They bought a farm house on ½ acre in 1955 and raised their family there. Jean lived there until her death.

Jean worked at Eaton’s in the mail order section for many years until she decided to go to university. She was a graduate of Simon Fraser University with a teaching degree and worked at AD Rundle school as the office/librarian clerk until she retired in 1995.

Jean enjoyed many trips to the Cariboo in their trailer with family, and the years spent at Sunnyside campground at Cultus Lake.

Jean loved her dogs, and spent her last years with Charnie and Miss Goldie.

Jean had a passion for writing and poetry. She often sent her work to the newspapers for publication. Those who knew her received fancy cards with lovely poems on their birthday & anniversary.

She was very supportive of the Kiwanis Club & United Empire Loyalists. She was a member of Carman United Church.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 31st, 2009 at Carman United Church in the Auditorium from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or the charity of your choice.
