It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Douglas Hodgins, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Jim was born in Chilliwack on Aug. 20, 1938 and passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Chilliwack General Hospital on Feb. 27th, 2009.

Jim lived and farmed in Chilliwack all his life. Even when he retired from dairy farming he loved every opportunity he had to get back on the tractor to do field work. On April 4, 1964 he married the love of his life Elaine (Baum). He enjoyed dancing, camping, fishing, golfing and his latest passion in life was cooking and baking. He truly was a Master Chef! Jim had a tremendous sense of humor and loved time with family, friends and neighbours.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Elaine, son Brent (Diana), of New York, daughter Lisa (Alan) Legacy and two very special grandsons Brandon and Austin Legacy, his sister Audrey (Ralph) Horner of Kamloops, many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

He is predeceased by his parents Allan and Margaret Hodgins, and brother Leonard.

We will miss him dearly, but have so many precious memories to cherish.

A private family interment will take place at Chilliwack Cemeteries. Please join the family on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Atchelitz Farmer’s Institute Hall (Lickman Road). A Memorial Tea, with a few words from family and friends, will begin at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society.
