It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Jacobus "Jack" Van Der Vyver in his 96th year. He was born in Rijnsburg, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada shortly after marrying Mom. They arrived in Canada in 1955 and after a short time in Winnipeg they headed for the west coast.

They settled in Sardis where they worked for a few years on a dairy farm before buying their own place in 1960, which they turned into a prosperous greenhouse and nursery business. Dad worked long and hard hours to grow the business and finally got to the point where he could start to enjoy a hobby.

He raised, and showed, miniature horses for many years. A passion he truly loved. He retired from running the greenhouses in 1988 and finally sold them in 2003. Together, they then bought their dream home, complete with a huge garden. A little slice of Heaven.

Dad lost Mom in 2015 after 60 years of marriage.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Mary-Ann (Rodney) Olleck of Sardis, Valerie (Brian) Evans of Lynnwood Wash, and Lavona (Steve) Reade of Duncan BC.

We, the family, would like to express special gratitude to the staff of Lifestyles Care Home in Sardis for the wonderful care you gave Dad in his last years. You were thought of by him as family.

And to the special little group of neighbours that Dad so enjoyed interacting with, we thank you as well. There will be no funeral service as per request.

Hurry up now Dad, Mom is waiting.
