Apr 2, 1925 - Nov 9, 2017
Our mum, Ivy Templeton, passed away on Nov 9, 2017 in Chilliwack General Hospital. She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on April 2, 1925.

After receiving her teaching certificate in 1943 she taught school in one-room schools in Saskatchewan, including one in Lumsden where she met Jim, her future husband. That same year he joined the RCAF, and was soon posted overseas. He returned safely and after his discharge they were married on November 20, 1946 in Ponteix, Saskatchewan. Dad later wrote "I married my wartime sweetheart."

They lived in Regina, then moved to Powell River in 1951, and then, two years later, settled in the Fraser Valley. They moved to their farm in Chilliwack in August 1961.

Ivy resumed her teaching career at Miller Elementary in 1966 with a grade 2/3/4 class, later transferring to FG Leary Elementary where she retired in 1985. Mum loved to dance, play golf, bike, read, paint, sew, garden (especially her roses) and of course, travel. Ivy and Jim vacationed every winter for 13 years in Hemet, California and in Arizona. They also travelled across Canada and the USA and visited Scotland, England and France.

Dad died on Aug 13, 2013. They had been married for almost 67 years. In March 2017, Mum moved to Cascade Manor, where she appreciated the loving care provided by the staff and felt welcomed by the other tenants. We thank the staff at Cascade for all their efforts on behalf of our family. We also would like to thank all the special friends and neighbors who helped to make her happy and enriched her life.

Our family sends a special thank you to Marwayne Apps and Wolf Loop, her best friends in the Manor, and to Dr. Scott Bakker for his warmth and understanding in caring for her.

Mum is survived by her son Wayne and wife Jessica, daughters Dolores and husband James, Pat, Debbie and Sandy. Ivy also leaves behind 11 wonderful grandchildren - Jess, Selena, Ian, Kimorie, Simon, Travis, Jason, Daryl, Tara, AJ and Ashley, and 5 great-grandchildren - Sydney, Dylan, Davis, Dara and Britta.

Mum is also survived by Jim's brother Doug and wife Kay.

A memorial will be held on Monday, Nov 27 between 1:00 to 4:00 at the Coast Hotel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Covenant House, a charity Mum supported for many years.

We love you Mum. You will be missed.
