Iona passed away peacefully in her sleep Aug. 11, 2011 at Cascade Hospice.
The eldest of three daughters she was born in Edmonton Alberta on Dec. 17, 1917. She was raised in Hughenden Alberta and resided in Chilliwack for the past 60 years
After graduating as a registered nurse she had an extensive nursing career including nursing at the Chilliwack hospital
She is survived by her daughter Ione Kormendy. son in law Doug Evans and adored granddaughter Alexandra, sister in law’s Mary and Clara as well as many nieces & nephews
Her family would like to thank the staff at cascade hospice for the wonderfully loving care she received in her final weeks
Services will be held at Carmen United Church, 7258 Vedder Rd., Sardis at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 18. A reception to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the SPCA or Covenant House.
