Helen Riediger (Goosen)

July 2, 1925 - October 5, 2023

Helen Riediger passed away peacefully into the presence of her Heavenly Father at 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

She was born on July 2, 1925, in Munsterburg, Russia. The family immigrated to Canada when she was 1 year old. They settled in Blumenhof, Saskatchewan. In 1944 the family moved to Chilliwack and settled on a farm in Greendale.

She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age. While she was away at Bible School, she wrote home to her parents that she had recommitted her life to the Lord. She was baptized in Greendale MB Church. Mom always maintained a strong prayer life.

She married Aron Riediger, whom she had known her whole life, on June 29, 1952. Their union was blessed with 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mom was a homemaker her entire life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved her community and her neighborhood as well. She would often drive a full carload of kids to church for Sunday School, VBS and Kids Club.

During her retirement years she was very busy volunteering at the MCC store in Chilliwack. She loved her job and took it very seriously. She volunteered in the store until she was 92 years old and continued to organize the work schedule until she was 94.

Helen is lovingly remembered by her children, Don (Ruth), Ken (Heather), Janet, Dave (Ivy); 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also remembered by her sister Alvina Braun, brother Alvin (Vi), sisters-in-law Eva and Audrey and brother-in-law Abe Wiebe.

Helen was predeceased by her husband Aron in 2010, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Graveside service will be held at Chilliwack Cemeteries on Hillside Drive on Saturday, Oct 21 at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Community Church, 46100 Chilliwack Central Rd. Chilliwack.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Julia Bright, Dr. Dara Donnelly and nurses Pam and Richard for their wonderful care. Also, a special thank you to Pauline Lindhout for her help and care during these past few years.
