December 4, 1941 - October 8, 2018
It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our mother Helen Orton on October 8, 2018 at the age of 76.
Mom will be greatly missed by her son Darrell, daughter Michele (John), grandchildren Shanine, Ryan, Devan, Chelsea and Colton, great-grandchildren grandchildren Hailey, Ethan and Kaiden, her sister Diane and sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Lyle Orton (January 2005), her mother Margaret Bertrand (April 2005) and her daughter Robyn Poff (March 2018).
Helen was born December 4th in Surrey, England and immigrated to Canada in 1944 with her parents and sister. She grew up in Vancouver BC with her family. In January 1959 she married Lyle Orton, they had three children, Darrell, Michele and Robyn. The family moved to Chilliwack BC in 1971 and she spent the rest of her life in the same home.
Mom enjoyed camping with family & friends, knitting for her grandchildren, donating to various bazaars, collecting cookbooks and trying new recipes.
Mom and Dad later joined both the Canadian Diabetes Association and MADD where they volunteered their time to help.
We would like to thank all who were involved in moms last few months of care. There are so many; Aides, Nurses, Doctors, Physiotherapists, Paramedics and Roommates... Thank you to you all.
