George John Derry Chidlow passed away peacefully at Northcrest Care Facility in Delta with family at his side.

Derry is survived by his children Sharon Wallace and Sean Chidlow (Tomomi), grandson Kieran Wallace, siblings Betty Monroe, Don Chidlow, Wendy Andre (Wilson), and many nieces and nephews.

Derry is predeceased by parents Eric Chidlow and Joan Stoner, grandparents George and Flake Moss and aunt Doreen Burgess.

Derry was raised in Chilliwack and lived in the community until he retired as a Correctional Services officer and moved to Agassiz. He served in the Canadian Air Force as a young man, was a member of the Canadian Legion and was an active member of the RCAF Association for many years.

In retirement, Derry participated at the BC Seniors Games for floor curling on several occasions and served as president of Friendship House in Agassiz, running a weekly jam session for musicians for ten years. For over 50 years Derry devoted himself to performing country western music throughout the Fraser Valley. He was know for his heartfelt singing and made friendships with countless band members and music lovers throughout the years. Derry remained active in the music community until he suffered a stroke in 2016.

Everyone who knew Derry will miss his quick wit and his love for telling jokes. He was a great lead on the dance floor, especially when it came to the waltz, foxtrot and jive.

Dad, you will always be in a league of gentlemen such as yourself.

A musical celebration of Derry's life will be held in the New Year.

If you wish to make a donation on Derry's behalf please consider the Canadian Diabetes Association.

"With your hand in mine I could dance on and on, I could waltz across Texas with you."
