February 21, 1938 - April 13, 2020
George passed away peacefully in Cascade Lodge April 13, 2020. George was born February 21, 1938 in St. Catharines, Ontario where he lived until he joined the Navy, moved to Victoria BC, met and married the love of his life Elaine in 1956.
George and Elaine spent the early years of their married life crisscrossing Canada from coast to coast. Their first daughter Joanne was born in Halifax in 1957 with Jean following in 1958 in Victoria, BC. Sandra arrived in 1960 while George was stationed in Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, followed by Lynne in 1962. During this period George travelled extensively with the navy. The family remained in Nova Scotia primarily in the Halifax Dartmouth area. George built the family home on Spider Lake Road where the family remained until their posting to Chilliwack BC in 1974.
Upon arrival in Chilliwack George started the CFB Chilliwack Base Band which he continued until his retirement in 1976. Upon retirement from the forces George took up real estate which he enjoyed for many years. His real passion was the cabin on Harrison Lake. He and mom truly enjoyed their time together at their getaway. They made many friends whom they held close to their hearts.
George is predeceased by his beloved wife Elaine, his parents, daughter Lynne and grandson Terry. He is survived by daughters Joanne (John), Jean (Bernie), Sandra (Dale), many nieces, nephews, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
George spent the last year of his life at Cascade Lodge where he met many caring and compassionate people. The family would like to thank the staff and health care professionals who made his last days as peaceful as possible.
No service will be held as requested. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Salvation Army.
