Nov. 1, 1924 – Aug. 9, 2011

Fred was born and raised in Chilliwack, son of the late Roy and Winifred Cunningham. He was predeceased by brothers: Art, Jack, Bert, Bill, and Jim; and sisters: Muriel (Chadsey) and Donna (Hughes).

Fred is survived by his wife Joy (Eyres), of 63 years; and children: Stephen (Laurie), Diane (Ken Brassington) and Brent (Harriet); as well as eight grandchildren: Curtis, Derek, Greg, Mike, Ryan, Allan, Sarah and Dan; and nine great-grandchildren as well as his sister Marie Rannie.

After a brief time in the Air Force and graduating from UBC with a Bachelor of Science and Agriculture degree, Fred worked for 21 years with the BC Department of Lands, living in Nelson, Prince George, North Vancouver and Victoria. He earned his Appraisal Designation (AACI) before establishing the firm Cunningham and Rivard Appraisals in 1968 and returning to North Vancouver. Fred was a member of the BC Assessment Appeal Board for 10 years prior to his retirement back to his hometown of Chilliwack.

Fred and Joy spent many years traveling the world and enjoying winters in Palm Springs with family and friends. Fred was a loving husband, friend, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was Joy’s best friend and the love of her life. He was a good, kind and generous man who always had a smile for everyone and who lived a full and truly happy life.

Please join us in celebrating Fred’s life from 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Clubhouse at Edenbank, 7001 Eden Drive, Sardis, B.C. Friends are advised that parking is limited.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. would be appreciated by family.
