Evelyn "Jean" Burt passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Valleyhaven in Chilliwack, BC at the age of 90 years.
She was born January 15, 1927 in Sunkist, Saskatchewan.
Jean will be deeply missed by her children, son Jim Burt (Cathy), daughters Lorraine Walker, Carroll Vermeer, Beverly Reichelt (Randy), and Donna Nuite (Burke). She leaves 15 grandchildren, 50 greatgrandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother Ron Ames and sisters Joan Demerse and Joyce Espenhein, plus many nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her parents John and Jessie Ames and her son Jackie (Jack) Burt, grandchildren Christopher Freeman and John Burt, also her brother Bob Ames and sisters Betty Harrison, Margaret Ambeau and Barbara Nuite.
Mom began her career as a waitress at the Royal Hotel, then moved on to Safeway for approximately 12 years. She then decided to further her education by attending college. Upon graduation she worked for the newly formed ICBC until her retirement.
After retirement Mom was able to spend more time doing what she loved, gardening, baking, knitting and canning. Moms greatest passion was spending time with all her grandchildren, sharing in the things she loved. Jean also loved to spend time with her many close friends having pizza parties, barbecues, New Years' celebrations and her craft club.
Mom's home was always open to any friends of her children and grandchildren. She became Mom and Gramma Burt to all who walked through her door. The family would like to thank the staff at Bradley Centre, also the staff at Valleyhaven for their care and compassion they gave to Mom in the last few months. T

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 8, 2017 at 1:30 pm at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 46048 Gore Ave, Chilliwack BC. Refreshments will follow in the Church Hall.
