Oct. 22, 1930 – July 21, 2011
It is with great sadness that we mourn the sudden passing of Ernest (Ernie) McDuff.
Ernie was born October 22, 1930 in Irishtown, New Brunswick and was the third of 9 children born to Fran and Forrest McDuff.
He is predeceased by mother Fran, father Forrest, brothers Leo and Leonard, sister Theresa, son Richard, and wife Helen. He is survived by brothers Edmund, Ray (Mary), Gerald, Willie (Joanne), sister Bernie and children Debrah, Patricia and Daniel. He was a loving and devoted grandfather to Stephen, Amanda, Candice, Matthew and Torrence and will be sadly missed by them. He also leaves behind to mourn numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Ernie served in the Canadian Armed Forces from June 15, 1954 to May 12, 1971 leaving to establish his own business, Vedder Upholstery. He later returned to CFB Chilliwack as a civilian and worked as the Base Upholsterer until his retirement in 1995. Ernie also taught courses in Upholstering, Fire Arms Safety and the CORE Program.
Ernie was an avid outdoorsman enjoying gardening, biking, fishing and hunting. He was heavily involved in the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club. He also enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife Helen before she became ill. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave., Chilliwack. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 6th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club, 48685 Chilliwack Lake Road, Chilliwack.
