Eric passed away peacefully on February 16, 2013 in Cascade Hospice. He was born in North Kildonan, Manitoba, November 12, 1934 to Fred and Janina Beger. Eric is lovingly remembered by his wife, Lorraine of 57 years, daughter Lynn Kroetch; son Rick (Maretta); grandsons, Justin, Jordon and Jared Beger; sister Erica Culin; brother Elmer (Peggy); brother in law, Bud (Paulette) Nielsen and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both parents and sister Elsie Regehr.

In his younger years, Eric was a heavy duty equipment operator and worked in the construction of the tunnels on hwy 1 through the Fraser Canyon. He then spent 13 years as a grapple operator, loading logs both at the head of Harrison Lake and in the mountains west of Hope. In the early 70’s Eric turned his hand to stone masonry and soon stated his own ornamental stone company. After his stroke 11 years ago Eric became a self taught painter, and many of his works decorate family walls.

His wonderful sense of humour will be remembered by all who know him.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kishi for his years of care, and a special thank you to Dr. Son and all the Drs. and nurses in Chilliwack Emergency and in the ICU. Thank you to Dr. Bull and all the staff at Cascade Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Eric and to our family. By request, there is no funeral. The family will hold a graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the Chilliwack Hospice.
