Edna L. (nee Kelln) Bruce

January 23, 1923 - January 26, 2017

Born in Cymric, Saskatchewan. Passed away in Chilliwack, BC. Edna had made Chilliwack her home since the 1930’s. She was well known in the community for working as a dental then medical assistant for Dr. George Enns. She always found a spot to squeeze you in. After retirement she kept her days busy with filling the creamers at Banners, Meals-on-Wheels, the Armouries Flea Market, writing letters to pen-pals and coffee with friends. Edna loved to travel and visited many parts of the world including Europe, Asia, Australia, Mexico and the Caribbean. In North America she visited every province in Canada and made many cruises to Alaska. She traveled to many Canadian and American cities following her grandsons in their hockey careers. She always wore a smile and will be remembered for her kind nature and loving devotion to family. She made many friends through her walk of life with a genuine smile and hello. She never passed someone in need without lending a helping hand. She also never quit when times were tough and was so courageous, in finding ways to inspire others. She truly was a rare loving person that everyone who met her, loved her. Edna is survived by her daughter Yvonne (Laurie) Moore, Oliver, BC, grandsons, Jacey (Juliana) Moore and great-grandson, Asher, Victoria, BC; Grady (Tawnie) Moore and great-granddaughter, Kayla Mia, San Diego, California. Brother, Dr. Elmer (Jean) Kelln, Loma Linda, California, sister Vivian (Grant) MacKimmie, Maple Ridge, BC and numerous nieces and nephews with special thanks to niece Carrie (Dave) Cannon, Langley, BC, who was there for her in her later years. They all loved their Auntie Edna. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Bruce, her daughter and grandchildren Rene, Shandis and Shad Fairclough, her parents Adam and Katie Kelln and her siblings Caroline Kelln, Alex Kelln and Mary Becker. The family would like to thank Dr. Melanie Madill, special friends Donna Burton and Roy Hopcott, and Maggie and the wonderful staff at the Bradley Centre for their support, kindness, professionalism and care through this emotional journey. There will be no service at Edna’s request with the family celebrating her life at a later date. Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to BC Children’s Hospital or Canuck Place. Arrangements entrusted to Hendersons Funeral Home, Chilliwack.
