Earl Leger went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2013 at Abbotsford Hospital at the age of 62 years. Earl was born in St. John, New Brunswick to parents Aurele & Lillian Leger. In 1955 the Canadian Army transferred the family to CFB Chilliwack. As a teenager Earl joined the Air Cadets, eventually earning his pilot’s license. He loved to fly. He married Julie Anne (Skillen) at age 18. In his early 20’s, he logged with his father-in-law Joe Skillen. Between 1965 to 1977, Earl partnered with parents and brother to run the the Pay-N-Save Gas Station on Yale Rd. In 1977, Earl began his career with BC Corrections which lasted 35 years, ending as a probation officer. His last years were in BC Juvenile Corrections. Earl was an owner with his wife at “Julie Anne’s Art & Custom Framing”. He volunteered 25 years at Chilliwack Fire Department – Hall #1 (later renamed as Hall #6) as well as the Boy Scouts, Kinsmen, and driving bus for Sunday School.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Julie Anne; children David & Kathy Leger and Roseanne & Richard Jones; grandchildren Mitchel Leger, Tiffani Leger, Olivia Leger, Rian Wademan, Brandon Leger; brother Ron Leger and his children Sheryl and Brian; the large extended Skillen family of Don & Rose Ross, Annette & George Sanders, Edwin & Diana Skillen, Michelle & Al Zielstra, Joe Skillen Jr., Karen & Jay and all their families; and special little friend Lorenz Pentz. He was predeceased by his son Richard Leger in 2001.

Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, January 17 at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave, Chilliwack. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 18 at Central Community Church, 46100 Chilliwack Central Rd, Chilliwack.
