May 16, 1934 - September 17, 2018
Duncan passed away peacefully on September 17 with his family and friends by his side. Duncan was born in Edmonton but raised in Vancouver and Richmond where he forged lasting friendships that endured the test of time. After high school Duncan pursued an education in theology at Christ the King Seminary and the Universite de Laval after which he was ordained as a diocesan priest in the Archdiocese of Vancouver in 1960. Over the next 20 years Duncan served in several parishes in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley lastly St. Mary's in Chilliwack. During his service to the church, Duncan placed great value in working with youth through mentoring and coaching, especially basketball!
In 1980 Duncan decided to pursue a different path, his work included carpentry, Coordinator of the Chilliwack Arts Council, co-owner of Heritage House Antiques and fifteen years working with MP Chuck Strahl as President of the Chilliwack-Fraser Canyon Riding Association proudly representing and supporting the riding constituents. Duncan approached each new opportunity with energy and enthusiasm and valued the experiences and friendships he made along the way.
In retirement Duncan travelled extensively with friends and family, exploring Europe and Mexico. Nothing was more important to him than time spent sharing a good meal, a "decent" glass of wine and lively conversation with friends and family in BC, Alberta and further abroad in Mexico and the U.S. He will be dearly missed.
Duncan was predeceased by his parents Raoul and Joanna (Perry) Goguillot, brother Raoul "Gogi" Goguillot and nephew Robert McGuinness. He is survived and remembered by his sister Joan McGuinness, eight nieces and nephews and their families as well as many valued friends.
We wish to thank the caring staff of the ICU at Kelowna General Hospital for their compassion and support.
A memorial mass will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church, Chilliwack at a later date.
