Mar. 14, 1913 - Nov. 4, 2009

Dorthy or “Dot” as most people came to know her was born in Westlock, Alberta.

In 1930 she met a young man at a dance, named Walter McClure and they married March 27, 1932.

Online condolences can be left at www.hendersonsfunerals.comShe was one of Edmonton’s first female mail carriers from 1944-1946, for RR#7 S. Edmonton. She often had to push through miles of mud, when others were stranded, earning the name “MUD-HEN“. Only once she couldn’t complete her route.

In August 1946 the family packed-up and moved to Chilliwack and has resided here ever since. Dorthy is a founding member of the Old Age Pensioner Branch # 173 and is a lifetime member of the Seniors Resources Society. She was the recipient of several awards, two of which were the District of Chilliwack “Community Spirit Awards “for 1995 and 1998. Dorthy and Walter spent many of their retirement winters in the Arizona sun. She also was an avid rock hound and collected many different rocks from all her travels. Many of us have jewelry that was hand crafted by her.

Dorthy was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1988. She is survived by her sons Ray (Shirley) of Chilliwack, Don (Esther) of Quesnel, daughter Helen (Jerry) Melenko also of Quesnel.
