It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Dorothy Erickson. Mom passed away in the evening of December 6th 2007 after a long battle with cancer.
Mom was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in New Westminster, B.C. on September 23, 1923. She lived in Rosedale since 1948. She was very involved in her community for many years. Mom loved spending time out with her friends and playing bingo.She spent countless hours knitting and crocheting. Mom very much enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Iver in 1997, her son John in 1986 and by her brother Leonard in 2007.
She will be missed by her daughter Wendy (Bert) Vandenbrink, her grandchildren Dwayne (Amanda) Erickson, Tamara, Jacob, Ethan, Devan; Nikki (Steve) Kendall, John, Michael, Danton; Colin (Lisa) Vandenbrink, Maryssa, Samantha, Bret; Ivan (Laura) Vandenbrink, Austin, Britny, Erika; Mike (Amanda) Vandenbrink, Calvin, Nicole, Scott Vandenbrink; and sister Shirley Jones Tilk.
A Memorial Service will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
