After several years of fighting Dementia/Alzheimers, Doreen Schroeder passed away peacefully on June 28, 2020.
Doreen was the youngest of nine siblings born July 26, 1946 in Greendale, BC.
Predeceased by her brothers Frank (1975), Vic (1992) and Cornelius (2002), and her sisters Annie (1956) and Erica (Ricci) (2005).
Doreen attended Greendale Elementary and graduated from Chilliwack Secondary in 1964.
Doreen met and married the love of her life Jim in June 1965. Their first daughter Kim was born in 1968, followed by sister Kelly in 1972 and brother Kevin in 1976. Doreen loved baking her well-known cookies and entertaining for all friends and family.
While she was a teller at RBC during the couple's early years, Doreen enjoyed being a stay-at- home mom while the kids were growing up.
Years later she helped at the family-owned businesses. In her senior years, Doreen enjoyed being a manager at Verses Bookstore While Jim was the first love of her life, the later years brought her true joy in the arrival of eight grandchildren. She loved being involved in all the kid's lives and activities, and making sure they all knew how loved they truly were.
Doreen was well loved by everyone that met her, with an infectious laugh. The only thing greater was her quiet, steadfast faith and love of God. She loved their many trips to California and especially Disneyland!
Doreen is survived by her loving husband, Jim; daughter, Kim (Sean, Brady, Baker, Baylee); daughter, Kelly (Dwayne, Mitchell, Allie); son,Kevin (Carmen, Madyson, Lyndon, Mason); brother, Dyck (Gloria); sister, Cathie; sister, Margaret (John); as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 10 by invite only with Rev. Dwayne Toews officiating.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations can be made to Yarrow Alliance Church Community Care Fund.
