David Loewen

July 17, 1937 - March 4, 2024

David Loewen passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on March 4th, 2024, to his home in heaven at the age of 86. He was born to Heinrich and Elizabeth Loewen on July 17, 1937, in Foxwarren, Manitoba. David was the 8th of 12 children. He had many playmates while growing up. David was four years old (1941) when the family moved to continue farming in Yarrow BC. He attended school in both Yarrow and Sumas Prairie.

He married Agnes Braun in Yarrow BC on September 21, 1957. They settled in Richmond BC. They were blessed with 5 children; Randall David (1958), Sandra Dawn (1960) Janet Wendy (1961) Lisa Doreen (1965) and Christine Tracy (1969). Janet went home to be with the Lord on March 06, 1964.

The family moved to Chilliwack in 1968 where David pursued farming raspberries and raising laying hens. In 1974 the family sold the farm and David started a career in real estate and construction. He built many custom homes in the Fraser Valley and several on Mayne Island.

David loved fishing, boating & waterskiing, wood working, traveling, and late in life he took up painting.

David loved his children, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He would mention all their names in prayer, desiring the best for them. David loved life, he loved Jesus, and he loved his church family.

He was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed by the entire family.

David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Agnes Loewen; his children, Randall (Yvonne), Sandra (Terry) Dyck, Lisa (Robert) Younie, Christine (James) Hooge; his 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He will also be missed by his surviving siblings; Betty Born, Ruth Harder, Dan Loewen, and Gordon Loewen. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings; Abe, Henry, Mary, Elma, Tony, Ike and Elsie.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 1:30 pm on April 19, 2024, at Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Road.
