McCully; Daniel Thomas
Daniel Thomas McCully passed away peacefully December 15, 2016 after a brief illness. Dan, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in Hamilton, Ontario on September 17, 1953. Dan was well known for his many stories about his time working in the city's steel mills and getting into mischief with his buddies at Mundays / Jamesway or the Plantation Hotel. He had many adventures in his youth, hitchhiking and hopping trains across Canada, fighting forest fires and working on the railroads. Dan finally made a permanent move out west in 1974 and lived in Vancouver where he and Anne Marie married and had two daughters. In 1993, Dan and his family moved to Chilliwack where he remained until his passing. Dan worked for many years at Western Canada Steel in Richmond, BC, and held dear his old buddies from that time. At the time of his passing, Dan worked as a millwright at Ocean Spray Canada, where he had worked for 20 years. He often described his position at Ocean Spray as a dream job where he could use his considerable mechanical skills, as he was a man who could truly fix anything. Dan was known for his love of music, his sharp humour and an unbelievable knowledge of trivia. He was a wonderful father and friend who has left to grieve his daughters; Laura (Mike), Corie, former wife Anne Marie, a large family back east, and many good friends too numerous to name. Dan was very loved and will be terribly missed. Dan’s family would like to thank the staff of Chilliwack and Abbotsford Hospital for their care of our Dad, with a special thanks to the staff and doctors of Vancouver General Hospital 9th floor surgical for their kind and caring treatment. We are welcoming everyone to say their goodbyes Thursday, December 22nd between 7 and 9 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack, BC.
