March 16, 1983 - May 10, 2020
With broken hearts we grieve the sudden and unexpected passing of Chad Ryan Maarhuis on May 10, 2020. At 37 years old, he was taken much too soon in the prime of his life with many goals and dreams ahead of him.
Chad is survived by his best friend, soul mate and loving wife of 16 years, Erika (DeJong) and their 3 children, Montana (10 years), Hunter (9 years) and Casey (6 years). Along with parents Andy & Jayne Maarhuis and Dan & Anne DeJong, siblings Stephen & Rachel Maarhuis, Nicola & Chris Cowley, Crystal & Corey DeJong, Raylene & Cam Tyssen and many nephews, nieces and extended family.
Chad was a remarkable man. He was well known for his kindness, friendly smile and fun loving nature. He could strike a conversation and make friends with anyone he met. God worked gently in his life to touch those around him with his kind heart and generosity.
Chad was also a well-respected leader in his tight knit community of Rock Creek, BC. As a butcher, he had big dreams in the meat cutting business that brought hope to both the community and industry, all the while touching lives along the way. He was in his element at the abattoir and butcher shop, cutting meat and dreaming up new ideas and sausage recipes that would better his business (Magnum Meats) and his family. He volunteered at the fire department and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He did things with great passion and dedication and lived his life to the fullest. More than his business, he had a deep, deep love for his family. They were his world and the reason behind his passions and dreams. Many memories were created in the great outdoors as he spent his spare time with them boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing and living life in their countryside home.
Family and friends will be reminded of Chad by continuing to enjoy a all of the adventures he loved to do. The unimaginable loss of Chad is profoundly felt by many. He left impressions on our hearts and many memories we w ill never forget.
Chad; husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend ... we miss you dearly and will never forget the impact you had on us all. May you rest in peace and live life to the fullest in heaven.
