The family regrets to announce that Carol passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 7, 2013.
Caroline Frances Hames (nee Currie) was born in Fredericton, NB, on April 24, 1930 and moved to Ottawa as a small child. She grew up in Ottawa and moved to southern Alberta following WWII. She met and married Eric Arthur Hames in 1950. They settled in Chilliwack in 1958.
In 1972, following Eric’s
retirement, they moved to Vancouver Island and remained there until Eric’s death in 1989. Carol then returned to Chilliwack.
She was a successful and active duplicate Bridge player, competing at local, regional and international competitions. Her other passions included the New York Times crossword and Opera.
She was predeceased by her husband Eric in 1989 and her son Barry in 2011.
She is survived by her sons Steve and Clint of Chilliwack, Ian of Chase; and her granddaughters: Gillian, Shannon and Shantalle; and grandson ,Alex.
