In loving memory ~
With profound sorrow our family announces the passing of a wonderful father, husband, and grandfather. He battled cancer for 15 years but was determined to travel as much as he could before the sand in the hourglass ran out and he did just that.
Brian was born in North Vancouver and after graduating from high school he caught the travel bug after backpacking around Europe twice. The stories that he would tell about his (mis)adventures were so entertaining. Brian's thirst for travel inspired him to go to SFU to get his degree in French in 1980. Following that he taught himself Spanish and Italian to enhance his travel experiences even more. Learning Greek, however, was a bridge too far even for him.
My husband lived his life on his own terms with a strong moral compass that always pointed due north. This would serve him well as a role model for his children and grandchildren.
Brian worked for The Correctional Service of Canada for over 20 years, and he received the Corrections Exemplary Service Award. Our family is incredibly proud of the way he conducted himself and the legacy he has left behind.
We would like to specifically thank the palliative care community nurses from the bottom of our hearts for their overwhelming compassion and kindness to Brian and our entire family.
Brian is survived by his best friend and wife Cherri, son Sean (Carol), daughter Katie (James), son Rob (Alex) and their mum Sharel. He is also survived by his youngest daughter Lauren, his granddaughter Alyssa, his grandson Alex and his four legged and furry son, Cooper.
