Arnold Grove

1937 - 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Arnold Erbin Grove announce his passing on August 22, 2017 at their home. He was born in Hanna, Alberta on November 10, 1937. During the past years he had battled many serious illnesses and conquered all of them except this last one. He battled them with the same strong and positive attitude which he has applied during his lifetime. Today our friend wrote us and we want to share with you what he said, “My sadness is tempered by knowing that Arnold’s suffering has ceased. For me, the want to have Arnold with us needs to give way to have the suffering stop and for him to be at rest”. This is the way our family feels. Arnold was known for his quiet mannerism and his warm smile and always ready to lend a hand. He was a very talented man who could build and fix just about anything. He was self employed most of his working life. First he farmed for many years, owned and operated a summer resort. In 1984 he and the family moved to Chilliwack, BC and had franchises for Workwear World stores. The family enjoyed working together for many years. For several years after Darlene and Darell and Jessica moved back to Alberta the families met in the Interior of BC and enjoyed a camping trip that Darlene called our “Christmas in August”. What wonderful memories of these times. In retirement he and Inez travelled all of the US and Canada as well as several trips abroad. They became snowbirds, travelling in their motorhome and later bought a park model in Indio. He started doing scroll saw projects and made some very lovely items. He also dedicated himself to researching his heritage creating a Family Tree using Ancestry including over 12,000 people. Arnold is survived by his wife Inez of 56 years, daughter Darlene (Darell) Giles and their daughter Jessica: son Lorne (Mary) Grove and their sons Tyler, Brandon and Zachary, a sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, mother and father-in-law, and three brothers-in-law. There will be a celebration of his life on September 9, 2017 Clubhouse in their complex at 5986 Hunter Creek Crescent, Chilliwack, BC from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
