Andy passed away peacefully on January 28, 2011 at Chilliwack General Hospital with his family at his side.He was born in Nieuwaal, the Netherlands on March 3, 1925.
Andy is survived by his loving wife Marlene of 51 years, children Janice Renz, Cindy (Allen) Frank, grandchildren Daniel, Kyla, Marlissa, Wesley, Travis, great grandchildren Brooklyn and Ireland, brother Koen (Areke), brother-in-law Maarten, numerous extended family and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Wilhelmina Van de Werken and niece Arina Van Steenbergen.
Andy immigrated to Canada in 1951. He was a grain buyer for the United Grain Growers Co. in Alberta for 17 years. Along with his wife and two daughters, they moved to Chilliwack in 1972. In 1979 Andy built greenhouses on their acreage and specialized in growing alstroemerias. He was a quiet, gentle man dedicated to his family and he attended the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford for the past 13 years.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Evangelical Missionary Church, 9310 Williams Street with Rev. Dr. Hans Kouwenberg officiating. Interment to follow at the Chilliwack Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
