Woman wanted for questioning in hit-and-run

The driver of a white Chevy Lumina is sought by local RCMP after hitting a moped in the Cottonwood Mall parking lot.

Local RCMP are looking for a 65 to 70 year old woman who may have been involved in a Monday afternoon hit-and-run.

At 3 p.m. on Canada Day a 27-year-old man on a moped was hit by a vehicle in the Cottonwood Mall parking lot. He was side-swiped by a white Chevy Lumina in front of Sears. He escaped with minor injuries, but the moped fared far worse.

The driver of the car asked the man if he was OK, but didn't stick around to exchange info.

“The police would like to speak with her regarding the incident," said Cst. Cynthia Kershaw. "It is imperative to exchange information in any motor vehicle incident, especially if there are injuries or if it results in any damages.”

Anyone who saw the collision is asked to call Chilliwack RCMP Traffic Services at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
