VIDEO: Demolition begins on old Sears building in Chilliwack

Site will be location of 130,000-square-foot Canadian Tire coming in 2022

Crews began demolition work at the old Sears building at Cottonwood Centre on Monday.

By 2 p.m. about half the structure was already down.

Sears closed its doors in Chilliwack on Jan. 8, 2018. It was back in June 2017 when Sears Canada announced the planned closure of more than half its locations across the country.

Once the demolition is complete, construction will begin on a new 130,00-square-foot Canadian Tire at the site.
