A suspect in an attempted purse-snatching Monday in Chilliwack is under arrest, but police are still looking for the elderly victim

An elderly woman who was pushed to the ground by a would-be purse snatcher Monday in Chilliwack is being sought by police.

"If anyone can help identify this woman, you are asked to please call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 as soon as possible so we can speak to her and ensure her well-being," said RCMP Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth.

A witness to the 2:45 p.m. incident near the intersection of Yale Road and Nowell Street helped the elderly lady to her feet, who then continued on her way toward Five Corners.

She was last seen walking down Wellington Street.

Police have arrested a woman believed to be responsible for the attempted robbery.

The elderly lady was described as wearing brown pants, a blue toque and using an able-walker.
