UPDATE: Both homicide suspects on the run in Chilliwack now in custody

Police had one of two suspects in custody Friday from the Wednesday beating death.

Two days after a severe beating on Glenwood Street in Chilliwack turned into a homicide, both suspects who were on the run, are now in police custody.

Cydnie Markel-Rempel was arrested by police in Chilliwack on Friday afternoon, confirmed IHIT spokesperson S/Sgt. Jennifer Pound. A few hours later, the second suspect, David “Yoda” McKay, who fled the scene before emergency responders arrived.

"On behalf of IHIT, thank you to all of the public who assisted in locating these two homicide suspects," was the message on social media from IHIT.

A local school was put on lockdown as the first arrest was underway.

Officers with IHIT (Integrated Homicide Investigation Team), with assistance from the UFVRD RCMP, have been combing the streets and flop houses for the suspects.

The death of John (Mikey) Anderson, 40, on Wednesday was believed targeted, according to police. When police arrived he was in medical distress, and later succumbed to his injuries.
