The newly formed Stó:lō Business Association is kicking off what it hopes will become its annual signature event.
The first ever Stó:lō Business Tradeshow is on Monday evening, November 7 at Tzeachten Hall, billed as a way of celebrating and showcasing local entrepreneurship in Stó:lō territory.
"Our hope is to bring together and help build partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous business," said Louis De Jaeger, president of Stó:lō Business Association.
It will also put the spotlight on some unique and exciting ventures.
Hosted by the SBA in partnership with Stó:lō Community Futures and the Aboriginal Business Service Network, the Stó:lō Business Tradeshow is the first major First Nations focused business event to promote the "strength and magnitude" of the diverse business economy in S’olh Téméxw, Stó:lō Traditional Territory.
"The Indigenous business economy is strong with 300 businesses and counting, with a powerful and educated Indigenous community that has a vision to be the leading centre of Aboriginal business in B.C."
Suggested minimum donation at the event is $5 at the door.
There will be free samples of indigenous food and door prizes, as well as free business-oriented workshops.
