Some of the biggest business challenges facing employers right now are staffing shortages and workforce retention issues.

The online summit, Workforce Connection: The Power of People, will run Feb. 9-10, organized by the Chilliwack Economic Resource Network (CERN).

Attendees will join business leaders on a comprehensive interactive platform to hear how employers are managing to implement creative hiring and retention strategies in the midst of a global pandemic.

“There have definitely been challenges with workforce retention, and other issues involving human resources,” Netty Tam said, the CEPCO lead on the summit. “The opportunity of this summit will be the chance to hear from the experts on what works. It opens the dialogue, and promises an innovative approach to a critical challenge facing employers B.C. wide.”

The two-day summit will run 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day, with a keynote speaker, individual sessions, and panel discussions.

Keynote speaker Len Pierre’s talk, ‘Working and Leading in a Time of Reconciliation,’ is featured early in the agenda on Day 1. Pierre is Coast Salish from Katzie First Nation, who’s worked as an educator, consultant, social activist, traditional knowledge keeper, and cultural practitioner.

CERN partners include: Community Futures of the South Fraser, Sto:lo Community Futures, Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation, Tourism Ch’illiwack, Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, City of Chilliwack and Downtown Chilliwack BIA.
