Chilliwack residents woke up to the first major snowfall of the year Friday morning – just a day before the first day of winter.
Schools in the Chilliwack school district remained open.
And while roads were slushy and slippery in spots, traffic was moving and there were no reports of major incidents. Traffic was delayed along Vedder Road while Telus crews worked on downed communication lines.
As much as 10 centimetres of snow is expected before the white stuff turns to rain Friday evening.
Rain is expected throughout the weekend – one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.
However the snow may return by Dec. 25, bring the possibility of a white Christmas.
