The Chilliwack Mall was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon, after reports of a fire in the electrical room.

The mall was immediately evacuated and several fire crews, paramedics and BC Hydro attended the scene. The power is out at the mall, and the gas station in the parking lot is closed as well.

Smoke was found by firefighters in the mall when they arrived, and fans were set up to blow it out. Staff from the mall waited in the parking lot and against the building, for word on when they could re-enter.

There were no reports of injuries, and no immediate word on when the mall, including Safeway and other anchor tenants, would re-open.
