There are few details, no victims, and no one in custody, but police confirmed Tuesday there was an incident of shots fired on or near Broadway Avenue a couple hours after midnight.
Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail that around at around 2 a.m. on July 10 they received a report of shots fired in the 8700-block of Broadway near Chilliwack Central Road.
Chilliwack General Duty (GD) and General Investigation Support Team (GIST) officers attended to the scene.
Rail confirmed there was evidence of shots fired, but he said it was early in the evidence-gathering stage of the investigation.
One neighbour of the area said that the road was closed in both directions at 5:30 a.m. and he saw approximately 20 evidence markers on the road.
“We do not believe the incident was a random attack,” Rail said.
The incident comes a month after an incident of two vehicles exchanging gunfire in broad daylight on Reece Avenue.
