Chilliwack motorists may want to alter their route in the next week or so if they go by Yale/Hocking.

City of Chilliwack has put out a notice and map of daytime lane closures at Yale Road and Hocking Avenue that will be in place during an ongoing sewer upgrade.

A second map explains the evening lane closures, which include a main lane closure and intermittent ones during the overnight hours.

Sewer main upgrading is the reason for work underway at Yale/Hocking from Oct. 4 to Nov. 14, according to a City of Chilliwack notice.

Yale Road will see single-lane closures, including no left-hand turn onto Hocking Avenue, for 24 hours a day, in that 10-day work window.

Construction will take place overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday to Friday, plus Saturday, Oct. 16.

During the sewer main construction on Hocking, Hocking Avenue will be closed from Yale Road to the train tracks.

Turning left from Yale Road southbound onto Hocking Avenue may also be restricted during active construction periods.

Traffic on Hocking Avenue from Yale Road to the tracks will be closed to vehicles from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m, but pedestrian access and access by vehicle to Greek Islands’ eastern driveway will be maintained at all times)

The bus stop at southeast corner of Yale/Hocking will be closed, but there is an alternate bus stop 160 metres north of it further up on Yale Road.
